Join our bush restoration project and make a difference to our natural environment and your wellbeing.

Updated: Apr 28

Are you passionate about the environment and want to make a positive impact in your community? In volunteering with the Pourewa Restoration Group's restoration project, you can contribute to the restoration and preservation of native bush in close to the center of Auckland. Why is restoring and protecting the urban forests in Auckland important? Native trees and plants play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. They provide habitat for wildlife, improve air quality, prevent soil erosion, and help combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide. By protecting and planting trees, we can restore and enhance the natural environment, creating a sustainable future for generations to come.

The benefits are not just for the environment. There is growing understanding that urban green spaces and particularly natural bush areas provide an important mental break for people that live in the city. This is not surprising given that man has existed and lived with nature for millions of years. Without this connection it is not surprising that mental health is increasing.
